The 3 Strategies To Becoming Inspiring

What the people who inspire me all share.

The inspiration doesn’t come from a throwaway line they say or something free they give you; it comes from the way they inspire you which leads you to take one positive action.

Without sounding like a wanker that has read one too many self-help articles, I’ve been lucky enough to be surrounded by a few of these rare souls. That led me the other night to many questions which stopped me from sleeping.

I couldn’t sleep because I was obsessed and addicted to the question: What makes these people inspiring? How did they make me, and everyone they encountered, feel inspired?

The easy answer was to say they were born that way, or they’ve always been like that, or they’re an optimist at heart, or they can afford to be because they have more than enough money. I realized pretty quickly that these answers were as shallow as the toddler pool at my local swimming facility where all the little kids urinate and the water never turns yellow.

These inspiring people that I had encountered, who seemed superhuman, didn’t have only one strategy that allowed them to inspire others. Now I could say nothing and hoard these strategies for myself, but there’s no point in that. Over the last twelve months, I’ve begun implementing these strategies because I would also like to be an inspiration for others. I’m not going to use my experience though because I’m not there yet.

The handful of people I’ve encountered who inspire others are going to be the foundation of these three strategies. They are already doing what many wannabes like myself — and perhaps you too — aspire to do: inspire.

This trait is the one that stands out the most. Without selflessness, these people who inspire us don’t offer us any value. These people who have inspired me are all obsessed with what they have to give.

Their first question is not ‘how much can I charge?’
