EVERYTHING HAPPENS FOR A REASON

In future everything is going to be clear to you and make sense. But for now, keep laughing away the confusion, smiling through tears, and reminding yourself that there’s a reason everything happens.

Startup Campus founding partner Thale Andresen on the importance of having access to expertise and learning

Thale Andresen is one of Startup Campus’ founding partners.

Even early on in Thale Andresen’s career, she was given responsibilities and challenging work — an experience she says still brings her advantages.

With the official opening of Startup Campus on October 31st, we do of course have both great ambitions for the future — and great things planned. And one of the ways in which we are set for a bright and continuously innovative future is through our founding partners.

Below, you can read about Thale Andresen —the managing director in Life Science Team AS. She is one of the first interviewees in our column on founding partners, their journeys, and why they have decided on joining the Startup Campus as founding partners.

My background is legal, working within IPR as legal adviser at the Norwegian Patent Office / Patentstyret for many years. Working in the design area sparked my interest in sustainable product development and production, leading to a masters program in green growth, and for the time being I am managing director in a consultancy company, Life Science Team AS, located in Oslo Science Park. For some years I have invested in startups and and early stage companies, with an emphasis on impact an medtech [medical tech].

I joined the Angel Challenge program of fall 2018 as an investor, and that opened my eyes for the importance of giving both entrepreneurs and investors access to expertise and learning. As a lead investor for one of the companies in the program (JodaCare), participating in Angel Challenge gave me a new and valuable experience.

Well, I am both an investor and working in a startup, so learning more about strategies to build solid companies is essential. I also have a strong interest in sustainable solutions that solve societal challenges, so I hope to see more of this at Startup Campus.

That was a tricky question…

I have worked at the NPO during most of my career — but they gave me a broad range of responsibilities and challenging work even early on, and I will always be able to use the advantage I got from that experience.
