Technology Cannot be Trusted!

As technology begins to underpin more and more industries, businesses expect to bring in more increasing value. More traditional and low skilled jobs are being replaced and new jobs are created where workers have to adjust to a new digital environment. Companies should help their employees adapt to this new environment but instead of reinstating their position, companies look for new individuals who are already technologically literate and engaged.

Technology cannot be trusted like we did before. As technology progresses, more and more of our information has been moving to the digital world. There was incident where there was a security breach with Facebook causing damage to people’s lives and reputation and effecting the company’s expenses. Mark Zuckerberg, the owner of facebook argued the attackers were using Facebook developer APIs to obtain some information, like “name, gender, and hometowns” that’s linked to a user’s profile page and 90 million users will have been logged out of their account, either on their phone or computer. A rocky year after the Cambridge Analytica Scandal, the company is scrambling to regain its users trust after another security incident exposed user data. Cleaning up after a major security incident exposed the account data of millions of users. The vulnerability was introduced on the site in July 2017, but Facebook didn’t know about it until September 16, 2018, when it spotted a spike in unusual activity. 87 Million accounts improperly hacked and had data taken out. Situations like these usually occur due to exploiting system vulnerabilities, drive-by downloads, weak passwords and targeted malware attacks.

Josh Bersin an independent analyst and founder of Bersin by Deloitte, a provider of a global research in human resource and HR technology have made a study and found the unemployment rate going up and down over the years due to technology. Around 2015, many unemployment rates have been dropping and the need more recruitment is crucial. However, there are not enough skills that workers have that an organization needs.
