Climate Change Research

In order to find out how the general public feels about climate change I took it upon myself to conduct a survey about it, and to see what the people say. I collected data from a group pf university students and asked them about the climate and how they feel about it as well as how we’re handling it.

From this data I found that 87% of people believe that climate change and global warming are serious problems. That means a large majority of people are aware that we are constantly damaging our Earth and need to do something about it. Surprisingly enough though only 73% of those same people thought that we need to switch to more renewable energy sources. That means that although believing it’s a problem some think it isn’t as pressing as it is.

I was also concerned with how people felt the world was being run and how our government was handling this issue. 87% of the people surveyed felt that the way we function as a society is ok for our environment and that we need to change our ways. This means that people are aware of how our current way of life is endangering us and destroying the environment. Of the same group 78% believe that our government isn’t doing nearly enough to help out with climate change.

So it seems that the average university student tends to be be well informed on the topic of climate change as well as how dangerous and harmful it can be to us and our way of life. And they know that something must be done in order to combat the damage we do everyday to our Earth. So what did the people say about what they’re doing to change or what they would do?

Sadly the data showed that only a mere 9.5% of people surveyed are cautious about how much energy they consume on a daily basis. This small portion is far too small of a population to make a change. We need more people to become cautious about their energy and the sources of energy that create this energy that’s being used. Not only are we wasting energy but this energy is wasting fossil fuels that we’re running out of, and will soon be finished if we don’t switch to renewable energy.

The sum of all this research has lead to the conclusion that we still aren’t educated enough on how much of a problem climate change truly is and how urgently we need to change our ways. We know it’s bad but the public is unaware of how pressing and dangerous the matter truly is. And we’re aware of the facts that our government is not doing nearly enough to combat the issue themselves, but yet neither are we. It seems to me that the public has set this problem aside for a later date and hasn’t prioritized it to the correct degree. We need to change that and to educate ourselves soon before it’s too late.
