Opportunities for Young Entrepreneurs in the UAE

Although the UAE startup ecosystem is small in comparison to the Silicon Valley and other major tech hubs of the world, it is rapidly growing. Dubai, especially, is known as one of the futuristic city of the world as the Government of Dubai has launched many initiatives which involves various technological innovations.

For Millennials and Generation Z, there are ample of opportunities to start a business in the UAE. The Government of UAE encourages its citizens and residents to provide them with solutions that will make this country much more safer, self-reliable and sustainable.

This blog will be focusing on three key areas:

1. How to be ready for the opportunities

The UAE offers plenty of opportunities in various sectors. From agro-tech to A.I., the opportunities are infinite. It all boils down to what you are passionate about. If your passion lies towards having a sustainable tech business, then you will find success in that particular field.

Conduct in-depth research of the industry you want to be part of. Understand the different stakeholders, learn what services or products are being offered already, and what is the gap which you can fill. A problem-solution paradigm is an easy way to generate a business idea which could be potentially commercialized.

Once an idea is generated and research is conducted, you will need to have a team that would believe in your vision. This is very crucial because as a startup you may not be able to pay a fixed salary to your team members. But if they trust your business idea, they will be in for the long run. Ideally, your startup should have the following team members:

A mentor or an advisor is optional for your startup. If you think you require a mentor, conduct thorough research before bringing them on board. Identify what type of mentorship you require and understand where does there expertise lies in.
