Interaction Channels

A successful communication strategy is one’s bread and butter in the world of ICOs, so it’s generally advisable to have someone with a proven track record developing, executing and overseeing a new team’s communication strategy. In addition to that person’s qualifications and experience, he/she has to be properly motivated to do the job.

First things first: the entire team has to be on the same page, fully coordinated and paying exceptional attention to details, such as having impeccable and regularly updated LinkedIn profiles — nowadays everyone does due diligence on all team members, including project advisors.

In a way, the project whitepaper is an interaction channel in itself, so some decisions are to be made, such as if the team is going to prepare only one all-comprehensive whitepaper, or the project presentation may require writing both technical and business whitepapers. The project timeline has to be laid out as transparently as possible, including Alpha/Beta/public release dates and future milestones. It should also be made publicly known well in advance when the project team intends to buy, spend, lock or burn the tokens.

A successful ICO needs as many quality people as one can get on all channels, all the time, including extra help during the ICO. Press, interviews, events, podcasts, newsletter, social media, Twitter, blog, Slack (set up the channels and moderate them heavily at all times), GitHub, Reddit, BitcoinTalk… Got it all covered?

Immediately after completion of the ICO, you should broadcast live from your headquarters. Give an update shortly afterwards and publish tutorial video(s) for all combinations of wallets.

Finally, wherever possible, provide multiple language support and translations based on targeted regions, or whenever you detect a need. English and Chinese are the most obvious choices, followed by Russian, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, German, French, Portuguese and Arabic. The more, the better — your community will appreciate your efforts. They are your first adopters — if everything goes as planned, they will help you spread the word and grow your network.
