The smartest thing is all too often only obvious in hindsight

A reflection of the past few weeks — the good, the bad, the ugly and the boring.

Sourdough bakes continue 🍞—we got a chilli plant as a present, so in an attempt to use the chillis 🌶 I’ve been adding those into the dough after the first proof when knocking it back. It adds a little bit to the bread, but I think they’re just not very spicy chillis.

I also baked hot cross buns (using commercial yeast). They were really tasty but only if eaten fresh from the oven. After a few hours, they turned into small rocks and needed to be toasted 😕. I got the same outcome on a second batch and I haven’t tried again since 🤷‍♀

The voice memo application 🗣 I’d planned to do has gone nowhere. It was an interesting idea and I’m glad I played with the audio APIs. Maybe I’ll pick it up again in the future.

I’ve had some sociable moments over the last few weeks and some moments of enjoying the sun 👯‍♂️☀️ (often at the same time 🙊) — little victories to celebrate amongst the refuge of hiding away inside.

Finally, this blog has a little more life than just reflection posts — I took the opportunity to collate a set of useful adages (a new word I learnt just for that post) that I use often. I’ll try and update it as I remember more, learn new ones or even create some. I’m also working on a post about building component libraries, in lieu of a meet-up talk — it’s a topic I seem to have strong opinions on 😁
